I recommend buying it
I started playing Rage with not much expectation but was blown away by it in the first stages of the game. The world you play in was done excellently, from the detail in the landscape to the weapons you can buy, build and use. The first couple of missions really pull you into this game. In the beginning this game was getting 9/10.. but as you progress you start wishing for more, so much open roads and not much stuff to shoot. I finished the game in about 13 hours total game time and even did all of the side quests. Developers spent allot of time on other small bits in Rage rather than focusing on the main idea and core game play. Too many little mini games and not enough missions. Also allot of effort was put into the races but just falls short. Most of the time you have to select between 2 vehicles and cannot use the vehicle that you have been upgrading. So this seems pointless.
Honestly its fun cruising the wasteland in your vehicle, using homing missiles and machine gun to blow up bandit cars but trying to build a full on racing game in it was just biting off too much.
Rage should have been one or the other.
I actually love the game but simply because it was so short it gets only a 3 star. Would still recommend it.Strengths: Awesome wasteland world scenery, Weapons are great and useful, Ability to build things such as a walking robot with a mini gun attached to it. Vehicles are awesome in the wasteland. Boomerang built out of blades (Wingstick) is a very fun weapon.
Weaknesses: Too short main quest. Vehicle racing, No creep out in the open world. Starts with allot of content then just thins out.. game is a anti-climax. Difficulty levels increase enemies life, would rather prefer more enemies.
