I recommend buying it
Your partying on a island resort, pass out and wake up to a Zombie infested island... The game is a bit more of a lighter take than Left for dead, found myself laughing quite a few times.
It has some new fun ways to kill zombies like, pickup a paddle, as the zombie comes running towards you throw the paddle, taking off the zombies head. The games fighting system is based more on malee type weapons, rather than guns like Left for dead. So it brings this close quarters fighting which is a thrill and at times freeky!
It also has RPG elements in it, quests reminds me of Farcry 2. It also has leveling up allowing you to user better weapons and also a skill system that allows you to build you character to suite your zombie killing style.
The only thing I found awkward was changing weapons, this had to be done through the inventory and no drag and drop option available.Strengths: Humorous take on zombie apocolypse. Thowing long pointed items at zombies, RPG elements
Weaknesses: Change weapons, No LAN option in game, you need todo this through steam.

I recommend buying it
If you love The Walking Dead, 28 Days Later or Zombieland than this game will be right up your alley. A beautifully rendered tourist island in the Mediterranean island has become overrun a deadly virus, the local inhabitants and tourists have been infected and attacks anyone insight. You have to find the cause of the mysterious outbreak and save the remaining people of the island before its too late. The visuals of the islands beaches and mainland is stunning as well as the character textures of the locals. The combat (which starts as mostly melee) is great but gets repetitive at times and the story starts out slow but luckily picks up later in the game. Dead Island is a fantastic zombie title full of fast-paced action and intrigue that will keep you slaying the undead for hours at an end.Strengths: Island looks graphically stunning, combat mechanics are solid, weapon customization, huge island to explore.
Weaknesses: heavily focused on melee combat, slow start
