
One of the gaming industry’s biggest award events, The Spike Video Gaming Awards, took place this past weekend in Los Angeles. Spikes ninth annual Game Awards was a night to remember with industry giants gathered as the artistic and technical achievements in the gaming world where celebrated by the network. Not only was the most influential members of the gaming industry present but sports, television, music and movie stars gathered to enjoy the biggest night in video games. There is two main aspects of the awards that is most looked forward to, first being the actual awards and the second being the first glance of the upcoming titles.
For those true gamers at heart looking for the top games of the year list and a potential great Christmas gift here is the results of the VGA 2011.
Skyrim received the highest honour a game can receive by being names the Game of the Year, it also won the Best RPG and got Bethasda Games Studios the Studio of the Year honours.
Portal 2 was awarded the Best PC Game and Best Multi Player, while Batman Arkham City won awards for Character of the Year, Best Xbox 360 Game and Best Action Adventure Game. Uncharted 3 Drakes Deception won the award for the Best PS3 Game of the Year and The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword took the award for Best Wii Game.
Never before seen world premieres of the most anticipated games for 2012 was debuted which included Naughty Dog’s the Last of Us, Command and Conquer: Generals 2, Alan Wake American Nightmare, Fortnite, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, the winner for Most Anticipated Game Mass Effect 3 and many more great games to look forward to.
While the VGA 2011 only showed teasers of the upcoming games, there is no doubt that we will be seeing and hearing a lot more of these anticipated games as next year 2012 approaches.
